🔑 SerpAPI key

SerpAPI is a third-party service that fetches real Google results. The free plan gives you 100 searches per month — enough for regular checks. Your key is saved in your browser so you only enter it once. Never share your API key publicly.

🎯 Highlight domain

Enter your own domain (e.g. yoursite.com) and any result from that domain will be highlighted in blue. This makes it easy to spot your ranking position at a glance without scanning the full list.

🌍 Country & device

Google shows different results based on where the searcher is located and whether they're on desktop or mobile. Always check with the country and device that matches your target audience for accurate data.

🏅 Position colours

Gold — positions 1–3, the prime real estate.

Green — positions 4–10, still on page one.

Grey — positions 11–20, page two territory.

📋 Snippet

The description text Google shows under each result in the SERP. This is often pulled from your meta description or page content. A strong snippet improves click-through rate even if you're not #1.

📊 How to use this data

Study the top 5–10 results for your keyword — these are your real competitors. Look at their titles, domains, and snippets. Use this to benchmark your content against what Google already trusts for that query.

💡 Pro tip: Check the same keyword on both Desktop and Mobile — rankings often differ. Mobile-first indexing means Google sometimes ranks different pages higher on mobile than on desktop.
