FAQs and featured snippets
FAQ sections can answer long-tail questions clearly and help readers find information quickly. Search engines may choose concise on-page answers for search features, but inclusion is not guaranteed and does not depend on adding FAQ schema. Keep each answer direct, useful, and accurate.
FAQ Schema markup
FAQPage schema describes visible questions and answers to search engines.
Google currently limits FAQ rich-result eligibility, so typical sites should not expect
dropdowns or extra SERP space. The markup remains useful structured-data practice and may
support eligibility if Google's policies or your site's eligibility change. Paste the JSON-LD into a
<script type="application/ld+json"> tag in your page <head>.
Where to place FAQs
Add FAQ sections near the bottom of blog posts to capture long-tail queries. On landing pages, place FAQs above the fold or near CTAs to address objections. For local business pages, include FAQs about hours, services, pricing, and location — these match common voice search queries.
Writing good FAQ answers
Answer the question directly in the first sentence — don't build up to it. Keep answers between 40–100 words for optimal featured snippet eligibility. Avoid starting with "It depends" or "There are many factors". Include the keyword naturally in the answer.
Voice search and FAQs
Questions starting with Who, What, When, Where, Why, How mirror natural-language queries. Writing concise answers in this format makes the page easier for visitors and automated systems to understand, without guaranteeing placement in voice-search or other search features.
PAA box strategy
Search your main keyword and review the People Also Ask questions for research ideas. Use only questions that genuinely fit your page, then answer them accurately for readers. Search-feature placement is selected by Google and is never guaranteed by the FAQ copy or schema.
