How to Check a Google Keyword Ranking

Use the Google Keyword Rank Checker to see whether a domain appears in the top 100 organic results for one keyword, country, and device at a time, then review the competing top 10.

What You Need

Enter your SearchAPI.io API key, the domain you want to find, and the exact keyword you want to check. Choose the country and whether to request desktop or mobile results. No Key For Riches account is required, but a SearchAPI.io account is required because the live search request runs through that service.

New SearchAPI.io accounts receive 100 free requests once at signup, not a recurring monthly allowance. Each check uses one request. Review SearchAPI.io's current pricing before relying on the tool for ongoing rank tracking.

What the Tool Returns

The result shows the domain's position when it appears in the returned top 100, together with the matching ranking URL, title, and snippet. It also lists the top 10 organic results for the keyword so you can see the pages competing for visibility.

“Not found in the top 100” means the selected domain was not present in that SearchAPI.io result set. It does not mean the site is unindexed, penalised, or unable to rank for related searches.

A Reliable Checking Workflow

  1. Use the exact domain or subdomain you want to track.
  2. Enter one specific keyword and keep the country and device settings consistent between checks.
  3. Record the position and ranking URL in a spreadsheet if you need historical tracking; this single-keyword tool does not store a ranking history.
  4. Review the top 10 pages for differences in search intent, content depth, titles, and authority before deciding what to improve.

Limits to Keep in Mind

Rankings change by location, device, time, and the search provider's result set. This tool gives a current, non-personalised snapshot for the selected settings; it is not Google Search Console and it does not replace first-party performance data. If a request fails, treat the result as an error rather than evidence that the domain is not ranking.
