📋 Building your keyword list

Export keywords from Google Search Console → Performance → Queries for keywords you already rank for. Add your target keywords from Ahrefs or Semrush. Focus on keywords where you're on page 2 (positions 11–20) — these are your highest-value optimization targets since a small push gets you to page 1.

🏅 Reading the results

Gold 1–3 — top 3, excellent.
Green 4–10 — page 1, good.
Amber 11–20 — page 2, optimize these.
Grey 21–100 — deep pages, long-term work.
— not found — not in top 100.

💰 Credit usage

Each keyword check uses 1 SearchAPI.io credit. The free plan gives 100 credits/month — enough for 2 bulk checks of 50 keywords. Run checks strategically: focus on your most important keywords rather than checking everything every day.

📊 Using the CSV export

Export results to CSV and open in Google Sheets or Excel. Sort by position to find your page 2 keywords. Track changes over time by running weekly checks and comparing exports. A column for "previous position" and "change" turns this into a simple rank tracking spreadsheet.

🎯 Page 2 opportunity

Keywords ranking positions 11–20 get under 1% of clicks but are the easiest to move to page 1. For these pages: improve the content depth, add internal links pointing to them, improve the title tag and meta description, and check if the page needs more backlinks.

📱 Desktop vs mobile

Run the same keyword list on both desktop and mobile. Mobile rankings often differ significantly — Google uses mobile-first indexing. If you rank well on desktop but poorly on mobile, it's usually a Core Web Vitals or mobile UX issue that's holding the mobile ranking back.

💡 Pro tip: Sort results by position after checking, then filter for positions 11–20. These "page 2" keywords are your quick wins — you're already relevant enough to rank, you just need a small push. Focus content improvements and internal linking on these pages before targeting keywords where you don't rank at all.
